Though taking a moment to enjoy a coffee and a snack with friends in a warm and cosy setting is surely a universal pleasure, only in a few countries can you find this comforting ritual embedded into their language. Be it Gemütlichkeit in Germany, hygge in Denmark, gezzeligheit in the Netherlands, or fika in Sweden, each of these honour the attitude and cultural importance of sharing comfort with loved ones by giving it a name.
Next week at the Europe & Middle East Coffee Symposium we’ll be honouring this ritual ourselves, thanks to a special partnership with La Cimbali, Löfbergs and The Danish Bakery, who have paired delicate and heavenly pastries with masterfully brewed coffees for our very own special FIKA moments.
Here’s a look at what’s on the menu:
– Rise & Shine –
A shot of Cumbia straight up with a Danish Mini Cinnamon Whirl on the side
A contemporary twist on the classic coffee & Danish morning ritual. The light acidity in this full-bodied coffee mixes perfectly with the soft and tender swirly breakfast dough.
Coffee served using: La Cimbali M100, Faema E71E
– The Cinnamon Cool Down –
Cold-brew coffee meets the warmth of an Apple Cinnamon Scone
The slight honey sweetness in this refreshing cold brew complements the vanilla and apple in this simple scone. Sweet, but not too sweet.
-The Palm Pour Over –
The medium filter coffee perfectly partnered with a classic Cinnamon Bun
This classic cinnamon bun dusted with pearl sugar is served best with a hot filter for a real Scandinavian treat – FIKA at its best.
Coffee served using: Cobra (3temp)
Visit La Cimballi, Löfbergs and The Danish Bakery at the European & Middle East Coffee Symposium from 11-13 November, and try the FIKA menu for yourself.
